"Evening Gown" opens up The Famous cd by New York's Social Hero, a riveting guitar riff blasting throughout the four minutes and forty-five seconds ..."In those high heel shoes/they'll take away my blues" David Lloyd sings.

What's interesting is that Ian Lloyd sometimes guest stars with West Coast rocker Buzzy Linhart, a man who has an obscure but great track entitled "Famous" (off of the Buzzart Publishing Catalog, Vol. #1) - Buzzy got the idea after seeing Phoebe Snow performing one night, "When you were down/and nobody would talk to you/didn't you call me up/and tell me you did feel blue?" A nice blitzy version would fit perfectly on "The Famous", an excellent CD from an important, hard-working touring band.

David Lloyd's voice takes on John Anderson of the group Yes-type qualities on the lengthy final track, "Keep Telling Yourself". Like the band Extreme's latest album, Saudades de Rock, the final track is the epic. Both bands contribute quite satisfying compositions with these expressive songs, both albums offering different approaches to rock & roll. "Radioactive Man" was found on the original Social Heroes E.P. "Mosquito Attack" is another standout on this fine new release.

Buzzy Linhart is on KALX-FM the U.C. Berkeley Campus - between 6 and 6:30 Boston time, John Berke - "The Berkster" - plays a Buzzy Linhart song every week (Pacific time it is 3:00 - 3:30). Today he is playing "Wish I Could Find" from the Buzzy's Buzzy album. Tune in here:
